Aminopropyl AP (NH2) Columns

SMT manufactures very stable aminopropyl (NH2) columns. SMT Amino (NH2) bulk packings are often recommended for the separation of polar compounds and can be used in three separation modes:

  • Normal-Phase
  • Weakly Anion Exchange
  • Reversed-Phase

In normal phase mode, the bulk packings can be used to separate polar compounds such as substituted anilines, phenols, and chlorinated pesticides. In reversed-phase mode, separation of organic acids and anions is possible with the addition of common buffers. Other applications include reversed-phase separation of carbohydrates in food and beverages.

Unique features include:

  • Improved separation of polar solutes; excellent sample recovery; high loading capability
  • High reproducibility of bonded ligand resulting in consistent separation
  • Increased longevity provided through “Total Coverage”

SMT offers two types of columns:

  • Aminopropyl (AP-series)
  • Aminopropyl Methyl (APM-series)

  • SMT SAM AP – Normal Phase Amino (NH2) Column

AP Amino (NH2) columns for separation of strong anions from aqueous samples. Can be used in the normal phase and HILIC mode. Provides different normal-phase selectivity than bare silica, substantially for aromatics.

  • SMT SAM AP Amino (NH2) – Guard Column

NH2 Guard columns are expendable small columns designed to remove anything that may interfere with the separation or shorten the lifetime of the primary column.
