Cyanopropyl CP (CN) Columns

SMT manufactures ultra-stable cyanopropyl (CN) columns for normal and reversed-phase chromatographic separation modes. These columns have some special characteristics. When used in normal phase mode, with relatively nonpolar solvents, CN stationary phase can separate many polar compounds just like silica. When used in reversed-phase mode, with relatively polar solvents, CN-stationary phase offers complimentary selectivity that may be unattainable with traditional reversed-phase packings such as C18 and C8.

Unique features include:

  • Homogeneous CN functional surface that permits faster equilibration than unmodified hydroxyl silica surface
  • Extremely high phase density and stability that are not found in conventional CN stationary phases
  • Increased longevity provided through “Total Coverage”
